ABOUT ABOUT

The Business of Education - Geoff Garrett

Higher education is a key engine of the regional economy.  And the biggest player in the sector locally is the University of Pennsylvania, home to one of the nation's top business schools, Wharton (aka the alma mater of President Trump).  Continuing our theme of looking at global issues through a Philadelphia prism, the Club's speaker in November will be Geoff Garrett, dean of the Wharton School.  He'll talk about the challenges and opportunities facing higher education these days, including globalization and online courses, areas where Wharton has been aggressive and innovative.  Garrett's witty, popular blog on Linkedin has earned him recognition as one of that platform's select Influencers.  He'll also share some of the insights on global economic trends that have made his posts a must-read for Linkedin users.  Join us for this timely dissection of higher ed and macroeconomics at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 1, at the Union League.
