ABOUT ABOUT

"Rx Philly" - Dr. David Nash and Melissa Weiler Gerber

No topic is more vital to the Philadelphia region's future.  Few topics have caused more confusion and anxiety in the last 18 months.  It's been a topsy-turvy time for health care in Harrisburg and, especially, Washington, D.C.   What is the future of the Affordable Care Act?  Medicaid?  Medicare?  The opioid crisis? And how will the decisions made on the banks of the Susquehanna and the Potomac flow down into the lives and livelihoods of Philadelphians?  Those are the themes of the April meeting of the Sunday Breakfast Club on Wednesday, April 4 at the Union League, as we continue this season's tour of major issues, seen through a Philly prism.  Our panelists will be Dr. David Nash and Melissa Weiler Gerber.   Dr. Nash is founding dean of the School of Population Health at the Thomas Jefferson University. A physician who also holds a master's in business, he's a nationally recognized expert on health economics and practice.  Gerber is president and CEO of Access Matters, a Philadelphia nonprofit formerly called the Family Planning Council. Before that, she was head of Women's Way. Make your reservation for a fascinating, clarifying evening, beginning with cocktails at 5:30 and program and dinner to follow. And if you have topics or questions you particularly would like to see covered on April 4, email them to program director Chris Satullo at [email protected].
